Parking in downtown SF is expensive. Most hotels charge $30+ a day for parking. The cheapest garage near the St. Francis is the Sutter Stockton garage and it is $25 a day. The garage at 5th and Mission [about 6 blocks from the hotel] is $23.

I echo the advice about taking public transporation. For what you spend on parking for one day you can travel the whole city for a week. Even cabs are cheaper than bringing your car to a Union Square Hotel.

You can find free parking if you are willing to stay on outer Lombard or South of Market.

Call the hotel and ask for the concierge. He will be able to tell you where the best parking is located.
