I understand what you mean. All three of my children were like this, and were sitting on their own unsupported by 4 months. I did little workouts with them to help develop their muscles a bit more. Lay your baby down on his back, and grab his hands, pull up just a little bit and let him get himself the rest of the way up. I would do this a few times a day, and as soon as he was up I would sit behind him, to give him support and put a baby gym in front of them for a few minutes to let them play and reach for toys. I did do the pillow thing too for a bit, by my children were never satisfied with that! just keep working with him slowly, and when he is ready he will be sitting all on his own!

He's a little too young to sit up on his own yet, his back muscles have to develope and get stronger. He'll sit up by himself when he's ready, usually after 6 months. For now, why not sit him in a bouncy chair if he doesn't like to lie down, or plenty of tummy time, which will also help his little arms get strong for rolling over.

Use a bobby pillow to help support him, if you don't have that use pillows to prop him-but supervise him of course. I think when my son was around 5 months old he would go in a saucer for short periods of time. I also had to be careful at that age when he was in the bouncer-he'd nearly tip it over trying to sit up and I know of other moms who said the same thing happened.

My 4 1/2 month old is the same way so I sit will her on the couch or sit her in a chair (completely supervised of course) so she starts to get used to sitting up and now she can almost do it herself.

You need to give him some time on his tummy and get him a toy like the playschool toys that have the mobiles hanging(the ones he can lay on his back and look at) As he does this and tries to reach for them daily he will strengthn his own little stomach muscles and he will be sitting in no time. You won't have to do anything, and it helps to prepare him to be independent.

A 4 month previous at the same time as he cries continually has a reason. even if he's fed, has a sparkling diaper, and is not drained. He can both be teething early, or have abdomen pains called colicky. He also may be feeling pressure from you because you're so frazzled which I comprehend. There somewhat isn't a lot you would possibly want to do. it is going to take time till eventually he grows out of it. i might want to point that you get a touch one sitter to take him out for a pair of hours contained in the sparkling air. sparkling air may have a relaxing result on a touch one. in the intervening time you'd be able to have a at the same time as for your self, and unwind. you could also flow out for the period of that element, and get your hair carried out, nail reducing. flow finding out to purchase, and purchase your self something. flow out with a chum for lunch. it's going to make you, and the toddler happier. once you do come homestead you'd be in most suitable spirits, and able to take care of a colicky toddler. A 4 month previous is an danger free little element, you could't ideal his habit. yet you could make it a lot less stressful and bigger pleasant for both one among you.

Tummy time. Wedge him in the sofa cushions, or in a boppy pillow.
Its something they learn on their own for the most part, generally between 5-6 months. Helping him figure it out is good :)

They make something call a Bumbo seat. It is similar to a booster seat, but for babies. They are made of soft, flexible rubber stuff and the baby sort of fits down in, so it holds them in a sitting up position. They are not cheap, but I borred one from a friend. It works GREAT. Google "Bumbo Seat" and you will see what I mean.

Patiience my dear. $ mos. for sitting is a bit young. His muscles are yet developed enough for that move. For now a baby seat is thee way to go. When he is ready he do all the things he is suppose to. If I remember correctly, before you know it he will be on the move & there maybe times staying in one place would be a break for you. Very quickly they learn to move fast & constantly. Then there is no stopping them.

He'll sit when his muscles are strong enough, don't rush him.
You could sit him on the floor with firm pillows to prop him up if he is able to roll away from them should he fall over. I wouldn't even do that, though.
When they're ready, they're ready.
