Props to you in keeping hope alive I suppose. This may not be an answer you will like, but I don't see the Cubs winning a World Series anytime soon. They aren't even going to win their own division (NL Central). Here is the reason why:
Pitching - After Carlos Zambrano, who in that rotation do you have that you can count on to remain healthy and win you games everytime they take the bump? Ted Lilly? I don't think so. He is a decent pitcher, but way overpaid. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood? Damaged goods.
Offense - They uppgraded offensively when they signed Alfonso Soriano. Aside from Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez, who in the lineup really scares opposing pitchers?
Since they play in the NL Central and most of the teams in the division save for the Pittsburgh Pirates are comperable in talent makeup, anything is possible. Then again, they are the Cubs and they do seem to find ways to finish 4th place and 25 games out.

Fortunately for the Cards and Reds the Cubs are still the Cubs, so they will come up clutch with a few bad practices, and missed opportunities and end up in third place.
I believe the Astros are extremely over rated while the Reds are extremely under rated.

right now the Cubs have the same chance as everyone else, everybody is 0-0 but the Cubs have a lot better chance than they had last year as long as the pitching is solid and the fielders stay healthy.
