I believe that many blacks were imported as slaves to several Caribbean countries, just like to America. I'm quite sure of it; some Caribbean countries had civil wars/revolutions to free black slaves. So, yes, there are black-descended Caribbeans intermingled with people of native Caribbean and Spanish and other European descent.

British men often travelled to the Caribbean to take wives whose families were landed - owned large plantations or estates or other tracts of land. The novel _Wide Sargasso Sea_ by Jean Rhys tells the story of one such British man and his native Caribbean wife who goes crazy because of her husband's coldness and hatred. Black author Audre Lorde also had two black parents of Caribbean descent.
