I recently ran a virus scan on my computer using Norton Anti Virus. The results showed that i had a downloader trojan. The file name was ps2vqapatch.exe. Norton then told me to quarantine the file. After I quarantined the file, Norton told me to delete it. When I tryed to delete it, Norton said "deletion failed". I then ran another virus scan using Ad-Aware and the file didn't even show up on the report. Has anyone else found this trojan on their computer? Does anyone know what program i could use to delete it?

DUDE!

Uninstall that POS!

I have been a fan of Norton/Symantec since 1996. I followed blindly until 2004 when I finally had enough of the junk and headaches that followed. I used everything from the single stand alone version all the way up to the Enterprise Edition. Since 1999, not much has changed with their service. They added some bells and whistles, yet it does not keep up with what is happening. And they continue to charge more and more. I haven't figured that out yet.

Avast is a great product at a great price (FREE) for home use.

TAKE IT ALL OFF!

Here are some resources for you.

If the pop ups appear when you're online, activate your browsers pop up blocker. Go to tools - internet options - block pop ups.
But if they appear on your pc when you're not connected to the net then you have either spyware or adware on your pc. Run Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE Personal to get rid of them.

If it's a Trojan, it's best that you back up all your *clean* stored information on a disk and wipe your computer to start new. Viruses can easily be removed with the latest software, but Trojans are trickier and harder to remove completely. (Darn, how'd you get that many Trojans!)

Google the virus name and see what comes up. Otherwise, try Geeks to Go. Some software I have used in the past work great are Adaware, Microsoft Windows Defender, Trend Micro is an online virus scan (http://www.trendmicro.com).

You may be getting stopped from deleting because it is runnining in start up .

Type msconfig in RUN box and go to start up tab uncheck the program then you should be able to delete..

Also have system restore turned during this then turn it back on once you're done..

adaware is not an anti-virus program it detects spyware

norton did its job by quarentine the file, which means access to it is denied by any other program so it is more or less non-functional
may want to reboot and do another scan to delete it
link to info on it

Try to restart your computer, and then re-do the scan. If it's quarantined, it shouldn't cause any trouble anyway.
