Yes, a friend of mine spent 8 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. After 8 years the alleged victim came forward and admitted she lied. He was released from prison. Was able to prove the D.A. knew the victim was lying and he told the victim to keep quiet at sentencing day.

My friend sued the state, and county that prosecuted the case and won a 18.8 million dollar settlement.

When he told me this i didn't at first believe until he showed me the check from the state and county and all the legal documents.

The guy hasn't changed any since he got that money 2 years ago. He's still living in the same old average house, drives the same pickup which is 5 years old and has over 200K miles on it.

One would think he'd atleast buy a new vehicle.

Yes, most every person has been wrongfully accused of something at one time or another. The only innocent people in the world are those who can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt they have done nothing wrong.

Oh, yes. It happens wat too often everyday in just about every facet of life. You ask anyone in a prison anywhere and theyll tell you they didnt do it, they were railroaded, but if all be told, a very small amount of prisoners were probably railroaded by their legal system. Without evidence contrary to the accusation, innocence is hard to prove
