Yes your cervix changes to a blue looking color while pregnant.

Oftentimes when you are pregnant your cervix will be blue or purple in colour. Sometimes changes are noticeable in the uterus as well in early pregnancy.

However 1) Why are you getting an internal exam? 2) Why not just take a test?

Depends on how far along you are. The appearance and texture of the cervix and uterine neck does change quite a bit during pregnancy, though, and the doc might be able to tell from the feel of it, including the enlargement of the uterus overall.

Yes, there are changes to the cervix and the uterus during pregnancy. A doctor who knows what to look for can tell if you're pregnant from an exam.

The doctor can tell at about 3 months if you are pregnant by doing an internal exam. That's when the uterus starts stretching and s/he can tell by the size change. A regular pregnancy test is alot quicker and the sooner you know, the sooner you can start vitimins and such.

Hmmm why would a dr be doing that in the first place when there are perfectly good pregnancy test kits available? The only time i had an internal was when i was in labour and the dr was checking out where the baby was etc.

Sometimes. The cervix turns a blueish colour, and of course the uterus enlarges. A urine test is good, and a blood test is good as well. ~~~

Uterus size definitly. they put two fingers inside you and push up on your cervix which will raise your uterus a bit, then the doc pushes down on your belly... he'll be able to feel it's swollen size that way.

Yes, they can tell as long as you are 4-6 weeks along. Before that, your uterus doesn't change that much.

Yes, that's how my cousin found out she was almost 6 mos pregnant. She had regular periods and had no indication of being pregnant, she felt "queazy" and thought she had a stomach virus so she went to the doctor. He did a pelvic exam and found that the "virus" was actually a pregnancy.
