I did. I think it was because I had really appreciated some of my teachers (not that I ever told them). So after I had got a degree (well 3 actually) I went and taught in a Primary School ib a deprived part of Glasgow. It was hard. It made me reevaluate all sorts of things. I got completely hooked on it because even the difficult children appreciate you. They like you because you are fair and can be trusted. The fact that sometimes you have to persuade them NOT to throw that fire extinguisher at you is neither here not there.

It is humbling, but incredibly genuine. In return you really do try to give them everything you can.
