Just remember the tips you need to listen up during your pracitce. I have participated in a pageant where they didn't want the normal Model T stance. Good luck

The National American Miss pageant is 3 days the first day though, has only optional activities like workshops and theme parties. The second day has formal wear and person intro ,along with check-in ,all the optional contests, oreantation ,and rehearsal for intro and formal wear. The 3rd day has interviews, final night, and pageant rehearsal.

The best way to poise is in a model T-Stance this means that your feet has to be in a special position. You can either have your left foot at 12:00 and your right at 2:00 or have your left at 10:00 end right at 12:00. One of your feet should be right next to your other about 5 inches higher than your heel.
Your body should be standing straight, facing forward (except if you're doing modeling then you should be facing an angle) shoulders back and your head held high but not too high so it looks like your stuck up.
In formal wear yor hands can be either about 1-6 inches away from your dress ,or they can touch your dress but not dent it.
One of the things that are the most important is that you always have a big friendly smile on your face and lok confindent. Remember to always look at the judges when you're giving your intro or doing formal wear.

If you're wondering how I know all of this it's becuse I did it as well and got second runner up for Texas. I'm sure that you will loooooove National American Miss. All the girls are extremely nice and so is the staff. Anyway I gotta go ,and you need to practice your Model T-Stance ;) so Ciao for now!!!!!!!!

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! although I have not yet done national American miss ( i will be competing this summer) I have been with American coed for quite some time and they are both ran very similarly. My best advice is to go to www.namiss.com and sign up NOW! once you send in your application fee, you will receive you first magazine and packet of informational including a tentative schedule. When on stage and standing, always stand in your model t position with you hand either rested loosely at your side with shoulders back or with them gently placed just behind your back. Always walk "like you have already won" with your beautiful smile in all its glory :) REMEMBER to take your time during formal wear and introduction, remember, this is YOUR time to shine! Interview is the key part in the pageant, although it is weighed equally, this is the only time when the judges will get to talk to you one on one. so be practicing your interview questions allowed starting now. although you will feel silly being by yourself talking, this is the only way to become truly prepared. Good luck at your state pageant, maybe i will see you at nationals?!? e-mail me is you have any more questions!!
