Two terms is the max and he has to bow out. There are some who speculate that he will try to use the "High Terrorist Threat Level" excuse to postpone the elections in 2008 and remain in power. We all, every citizen of the United States, need to think about and prepare for this possibility. I shudder to think about what will become of this nation if it happens.

Since President Bush has been in for his 2 terms, there is nothing he can do to remain in office once his term is up.

However, if his wife Laura runs for office, he could stay in office. (This is what Bill Clinton is probably hoping will get him back into the White House)

I am not sure about this, but I BELIEVE he can still run as a Vice President - however... after having the absolute power, not many people would take this type of DE-motion!

MADDOJO - That is incorrect!!!! Once someone has served 2 total terms, they can not run again - President Cleveland was President for 1 entire term, then lost, ran again and won.... he could not go for an additional term for this reason! Good try though!

The 22nd Amendment calls for the President to serve no more than two terms. Therefore, George W. Bush's term as President will end in January 2009.

You're president for 4 years then you can be re-elelected like Bush for another 4. You can only be president for 8 years at the most unless you took the place of a president that resigned or died and you won the next election, and/or the next afterward election.

He might try something, I dont know. From what Ive seen of him he can do some pretty strong things without much warning, so if he does decide to try and hang on to power, I wont be the least bit surprised.
