if its not then what diet is for me. im 5'7 and i weigh like 168. my doctor says that he only wants me to try and loose about 20 lbs. im 13 years old .......can anyone help????

I think that it would be a very smart diet for you. Anything is better than starving yourself. You should ask your doctor if you could go see a dietician to help you get on a diet that is right for your age. I'm sure he would be happy to accomodate that request.

I don't agree with all these fad diets, eat this and you'll lose weight. The key is to burn more calories than you take in. So in essence, the special k diet would work because that's all you eat for breakfast and lunch with a sensible dinner and exercise. Why don't you eat fruit and water for breakfast (or whatever you like low cal), tuna or salads for lunch (low cal dressing of course) and a healthy dinner? Just remember to remain active during the day (cardio and toning exercises, not too much weight because muscle weighs more than fat and you don't want to be buff) and you should be fine.

I'm 13 also and I've been watching my weight. My advice is to drink mostly water or fruit juices, don't eat a lot of fried or fast food, eat fruits for snacks, at school get involved with an athletic activity (football, basketball, track, ect.), and at home ride a bike or run around the nieghborhood. This advice will leave you feeling better and more energised.

Its not what u eat,how man calories u take in. Try eating for breakfast a muffin with low fat milk and a half of apple.Lunch,tuna wheat bread,cheese,tea,and half of banana. Dinner,chicken breast with no season broccoli,and yellow rice. For dessert vanilla ice cream. Do this for 3 weeks u should lose 20 pounds. Also u can switch up just put something healthy. Remember is HOW many calories u take in.

Any sort of fad diet is dangerous as well as ineffective in the long run. Anything based on one food (special K, grapefruit, etc) is a fad diet. Diets that stress food from one source are also quite suspect.

Reducing the ratio of calories consumed vs calories burned is the only effective means. Consult your doctor and nutritionalist for ways to reduce the calories consumed. (Hint: Fast food is high in fat which is extremely high in calories.) Consult your gymn teacher, fitness coach, or doctor for advice on increasing your activity and calories burned.

I think you can start with special K but its not a magic cereal that is going shed pounds off of your body. Regular exercise is a start, and of course eating healthy.. This doesn't mean you have to cut out all of the foods you like, but eat them in smaller portions, and drink plenty of water, thats the key right there. At least 6-7 glasses of water a day. Eat plenty of fruit and vegitables, and remember, daily exercise.
