i had a planned c-section with my 2nd child-i was in for 3 days. (My first child was a emerg c-section) I would reccomend taking some of your own sanitary napkin (i did not like the ones at the hospital-they were huge and bulky), and also loose comfty clothes. Good luck!!

They wanted to let me out the next day, after having my daughter at 8pm via C-Section. I told them no. Because walking and everything is going to be hard, I would recommend staying in the hospital while you have help as long as your insurance allows, unless you have ample help at home. You don't have to pack anything more.
I would make sure she is that big though. They thought my daughter was 9 lbs too at my 38, 39 and 40 week appt, and while I had a C-Section, it was not planned. I had her that way because after inducing, I never dialated after 12 hours. She ended up only being 6lbs 13 oz. :)
It's also odd your doctor would say that. People give birth to 9 lbs babies all the time. Is there possibly another problem he sees that he would say that. I would not have a C-Section unless you had to, because then more than likely you will have to do them like that everytime. Apparently it's a trend amond doctors to just go ahead and schedule unnecessary C-Sections.

I have had 2 c sections. Th most important thing** Have an epidural for the surgery not the spinal block..the spinal wears off! the stay is about the same as a vaginal birth. I do not recommend you leave the hospital wearing anything other than pajama pants. You will be sore. Also, get the nurses to give you extra gauve when you leave because sometimes the incision will have a little drainage. I know I probably sound harsh but I am just telling you the truth.

I have had two c sections you bring the same stuff as you would normally bring but a c section takes longer to heal cause you have a drain and stitches you cant even cough or sneeze without it hurting if you feel like you need to do either of those i would suggest you get a pillow and place it as close and tightly as possible against your tummy cause it helps a little i had to stay in hospital for about 3 to 4 days because they want to make sure you can poo which is very scary when you need to go cause you think your ganna tear your belly apart but dont worry it would never happen i think the worst thing i can tell you is i didnt like the stitches being removed cause it stings they dont take them out for about a week after you have the c section i hope i havent scared you but i have tried to let you know all the yuckiest parts so you will know what to expect and that way you want have to be freaked out as much good luck i did it and it is all worth the bit of pain to have our precious babies in our arms healthy and happy no matter what we had to do to bring them into this world hey.

I had a c-section with my first daughter 4 years in the past it become no longer a vertical incision. I had my 2d daughter 3 weeks in the past or maybe however we had a schedule c-section for July 31 hard artwork got here on absolutely everyone and he or she become born on July 20. i could talk along with your accepted practitioner and he delivers you the excellent suggestion yet my accepted practitioner did tell me that become the only sturdy factor approximately having yet another c-section is that we could %. the day. I constantly thought that in case you have a vertical incision than you're able to constantly ought to have a c-section. sturdy good fortune !!

You will end up packing less for a C section because you wont be packing anything to labour with. You are in the hospital for a min of 4 days in Ontario. I don't know about any other province though.

Yes, I agree with a lot of these folks...it's YOUR election. You can always elect to go ahead with vaginal birth until you just can't, then the c-section can be an alternative. I was just reading an article on MSNBC under pregnancy that talked about c-sections, and they said that c-sections are overused. I would look it up and read it. I wouldn't just go for having a scheduled c-section based on an ultrasound.

You need to know that you do not have to follow your doctor's advice. you can get a second opinion, you can do what your instincts tell you to do. A c-section is major abdominal surgery. you wont be able to walk for a day or two. I know it sounds like delivering a big baby vaginally would leave you unable to walk as well...but i assure you that is not the case. Confirm that this baby is as big as they say it is.....and even then...so what? Its not impossible to push out a big baby. I know its late in the game, but you can seek out another doctor's opinion on this one.

If I remember correctly you'll stay about 4-6 days, and I would take the same stuff as if you were having a vaginal birth. Comfy bra (nursing one if you will be nursing) Your own wipes, cause theres arent wet, and the baby will be pooping that tar stuff the 1st few days, socks, slippers, magazines, movies if your hospital has a vcr, soap, shampoo, conditioner, pacifier, baby nail clippers (their nails are long at birth),clothes for the baby, layettes, sweats for you & a robe for u. I took those foam pedicure slipperes w/ me for the shower. so u dont have to go in bare foot. I think thats it.. Good Luck & congrats!!
