My best cousin is 6 months pregnant and since she has been pregnant she has not been to see a doctor or anything. Some of my friends who are mothers said she is way over due for an appointment which I already know but, I'm worried that with all of these things happening to babies these days is she in any kind of medical danger.???

She might be, especially if she isn't taking a pre-natal vitamin (these are essential during pregnancy). She could develop serious conditions like Eclampsia which causes seizures in the mother, bleeding, and fetal death; or gestational diabetes which can cause fetal death and severe complications for the mother. These types of problems are picked up on during regular pre-natal check ups. Her baby is also at risk for having birth defects such as Spina Bifida and Down's Syndrome as they will test for these in the fourth month of pregnancy. I really hope you can convince her to go to the doctor, there are programs that will pay for her medical care available.

I would hope not but there are a lot of test the doctor does during pregnancy that she cant have done know due to not going to the early prenatal appointments. If she is taking prenatal vitamins it make it much better for the child also if she isn't smoking or drinking that is a plus for her and baby. Tell her its not too late to still get care for her and baby.

Some care is needed. Like monitoring of blood pressure, weight gain etc. Somethings are common sense. Like a good diet. Avoiding alchohol and drugs. Getting enough rest. Going to a doctor/midwife does not guarantee a healthy baby. If there is something "wrong" seeing a professional can not always fix it either. If she does see someone hopefully they do give her prenatal care. With a lot of care and listening. I chose a professional homebirth midwife with my last child. I found the doctors I had seen in the past were not listening and I did not feel a 5 minute visit made my child or me any healthier.

Waiting is the worst thing she could do. And yes she is wayyy overdue I learned from my mistakes I didn't go until I was about 5 months. and when I had gotten there the Doctor was like what took you so long to come?. And I knew right then and there something was wrong I had sugar in my urine, high blood pressure, he told me that my baby was under developed for 5 months, I had unwanted fluid in my placenta, girl everything you can name I had it. I just had my baby 2 weeks ago and because of me not going to the clinic my baby is premature and he has to stay in the N.I.C.U for 2 months. So tell your cousin to go immediately because I wouldn't wish that on anybody.......

Chances are that she is NOT in serious medical danger, but she is being pretty stupid....Planned Parenthood will see pregnant women for free if money is the issue....what is she waiting for?

Well that depends. I choose to do my own prenatal care, this is an educated choice and I had a back-up midwife in case I needed care.

If however she is not taking proper care of herself then she should see a doctor.

However, in either case it isn't really your business. You can discuss it with her but if she tells you she does not want to discuss it then you need to leave her alone.

she and the baby are in big danger. She needs to get prenatal care ASAP if she cares anything about the baby or herself.

just think about if she had an ectopic (spelling) pregnancy. It could have been really bad, she needs to go asap
