Well for me I'm usually less hungry when im pmsing but you get cravings and maybe thats why you were eating junk food because you were craving it

yes, that is a symptom, if you want to call it that lol. i pig out too, but i also go through a time at the begining where i don't eat much for like 2 days, because of cramps

I'm going through that exact same thing right now, lol!
yes, its normal. and its because our uterus is constantly working to expel the menses. that would be like lifting a weight with your arm all day everyday. its burning cals, and is going to make you hungry.
