I have had my guinea pig for a while now and i've always notices how when he sits in my lap or i pet him he shakes? Is this normal?, Is he scared?, is he purring??

its not so much as a skake as it is a vibration..

Guinea Pigs are by nature, a nervous animal, so the shakes are just him being nervous and scared. Try having him in your lap more often and talk to him in calm, soothing tones while you pet him. It might help. Also, try hand-feeding him some kind of special treat, but only when he's in your lap so he forgets to be nervous and will actually start to look forward to time with you.

Often, guinea pigs purr when they are happy. It will feel like vibrations. If the guinea pig was actually scared, he would stop moving completely. Since they are considered "prey" animals, they completely freeze when they are scared to avoid detection by the potential predator. It is just instinct for them.

Since he is vibrating, I would say he is just really happy and comfy with you. Congrats!

Good ? my sister has one too he shakes also. i thought he was scared too maybe its there nerves or maybe there just happy !
