no, not at all.
you can start practice whenever you want and then be a fast swimmer.
all you need is discipline and practice regularly (and often also)

no its not true. if you are a good swimmer you can start at any age.if you have a pool it will help you by practicing every day(or at least every weekend). even though i started swimming when i was 4 years old, my friend start swimming when she was 10 years old and she is almost as fast as me! some people are just born with natural talent and others take a while to learn. so i say FALSE!!! and after reading this you probably do too! LOL

it depends on what your goals are, if you want to reach olympic level or close to that starting at around 8 or so would help but just swimming fast is possible. I started on a swim team when i was 14 and i am good at certain events. Swimming as fast as the more experienced swimmers takes time but the earlier the start the bettter.

whoever thinks that you need a strong build, like a football player i believe he said, is completely wrong...You need a long, and broad build, and muscle bound football players are the worst swimmers i have ever seen. Athletic build is different for every sport so please do not use that phrase. I started swimming when I was 7, as long as you start under 10 you will be well on your way to becoming a dedicated and hardworking swimmer.

No!!! Being a fast swimmer just means you swim a little quicker then the average person, some people are just born being able to swim fast, you don't have to start training when you're 12 :0p

No, certain bodies are made more athletic than others. If you are a natural athlete it would be easier to start at any time than any other person. Still, any one can become a quick swimmer as long as you train often and safely.

NO! My friends is a competitve swimmer and her coach started swimming when he was 15. It's better if u start earlier, because u have more time and it's easier for you to learn, but if u try and work hard....you'll be just as good.

Absolutly not! I've been swimming scence I was like 9. There are 9 year olds, who can beat me in swimming by a long shot. There are also 30 year olds who have only been swimming for like 10 years, who can beat me! It doesn't matter how long you've been doing it or how old you are. All that matters is how much you put into it.

Nope. A lady friend was 40 or so before she started competition. (she was a gymnast when she was a kid). Now she is breaking all sorts of records. so there. never too late to start.
go for it, and get busy. I am sure you will make up for lost time if you put your mind )and body) to it!
