I joined the **** 18-month BT Home Hub **** state of art technology 3 three months ago. It really disconnects virtually every day for at least half an hour. BT says it is some improvement work. I just wonder what can we do, given some many people also complain about the Home Hub, including this forum. Is there any user group that can represent the interest of the consumers or where can we complain? I believe it is a ground for discontinuing the 18 months contracts. **** BT.

These BT Home Hubs are notoriously unreliable.

They cut out during phone calls, disconnect from the net when calls are made or received, randomly drop connections and cause static on the line.

I gave up, sent mine back (the third one!), and reconnected my old ADSL modem. Problem solved...

I've had a home hub for 3 months now - I did have these problems when using the BT software supplied with the Hub. Since removing this and using Windows XP's built in tools, it works perfectly. However, a colleague at work has described similar problems.

I can't seem to find the details on the net, but as far as consumer support, try Which?, OFCOM etc as your first port of call, or your local Citizen Advice Bureau

BT Home Hub is most definitely not state of the art.
BT Home Hub (BT Broadband) is expensive for what it is. If you have SKY the same service is free (free broadband and free internet calls whether by SIP/Voip or Skype ) All BT have done is made VOIP and SIP easy to use (to be honest its a bit of a techy thing at the moment). All you need is a wireless router and a broadband connection for WiFi over WAN. Pick up a wireless Skype phone and your set !.
As far as the contract goes they have to fullfil there part of the contract, if not its null and void.

We had problems with ours for ages. What made it worse was the incredibly long waiting time when calling customer services or technical support - an hour not being unusual, and then they have no record of your problem, even though you have had to call up three times that week. It was the bane of our lives for ages but, touch wood, has been ok for a couple of months now.
I agree completely. If it hadn't worked the last time I was ready to demand we be released from our contract. My boyfriend originally just called up for a quote and they told us if we signed up we would be able to cancel at anytime, which we later found to be a flagrant lie. They have appalling customer relations.
