I agree that is the first thing that comes to mind when someone uses that phrase, however I then have to think about who they are applying that phrase to. Is this something I would associate with their character?
But yes, in general, your husband just told everybody you are a drunk and are irresponsible.

Partying does not mean getting drunk or stoned.. it simply means you are having a good time... We all have good times in different ways. I agree with your husband.. And normal people? Only people who get drunk or stoned will assume that. I drink, so if I say I am out partying, folks know I am having a few beers. But, my sister don't drink, and goes out partying all the time.

If he drinks at all, "Partying" is most likely synonymous with "drinking," but I see a deeper problem here.
Ask yourself, "Why am I looking for outside concurrence for an obvious question?" Are you looking to prove that you're right? You're obviously still angry with the issue of the Christmas at your Mother's, and you're both locked in a power struggle from the looks of it.
I'm going to venture that you are feeling resentful and you probably think that your husband is a jerk, and doesn't listen.
Am I right? If I am, keep reading. If not, this is an isolated incident in an otherwise spotless marriage.
Your husband feels the same way.
You and he both need your lack of emotional fulfillment addressed before your arguments become much worse because of out of control resentment.
Come to him, and ask him what he needs for you to do to feel appreciated, why, because you have to change before he does because most of the time, men don't realize the problems in a relationship until it's divorce time.
You both want to feel loved, valued, and important, and when he feels that way, and notes your effort, he'll want to make you feel good too.
but you have to work at diffusing angry situations, because you know how to handle your emotions, while he probably bottles his, or acts out. When he asks (he will) make your intentions known plainly and with no subtext, but not in a challenging way. I know it seems like you are acquiescing, but that is because his emotional needs are probably to feel like he is protecting you or needed by you.
Don't let him walk over you, but he most likely won't if you work to make him feel more appreciated. Just as important is to make yourself feel better, by setting your own goals outside the scope of the relationship.
The best time to make your relationship better is when the problems are small. It's alot tougher when it is allowed to get out of hand.

Depend where you live. In Pennsylvania, my home state, partying means drinking and getting high. Here in Hawaii it means just going out and have a fun time.

When I hear about somebody partying, I expect they either were drinking, or smoking, and I don't mean camels.
