Hi there. Yeah, one thing you can try is to make sure is the plug going from your monitor to the video card is securely plugged in and screwed in tightly with the two screws at the sides. Sometimes a loose plug connection can cause some pins to not fully contact the holes in the videocard. Also, judging from the age of your monitor, it's probably on it's last legs. It depends on how often you use your computer (how long it's on each day).

Time to get a new monitor, and they're quite cheap nowadays.

after checking the video connections, you might also want to degauss your monitor. This is usually done using the monitor setting buttons. The symbol normally looks like a magnet with a cross through it.

maybe the VGA cable is loose? wiggle it on both ends to check
