Such tunes are referred to as "earworms" and can only be removed by installing a longer and more annoying earworm. This is only a short term solution but I understand that scientists are working on a device they call an "earplug" - this, they state, can be easily inserted into the ear at the first sign of earworm infection. Once the earplug is inserted into the ear, the worm will quickly die.

Some hope...

I think the repeated words as someone else has said, combined with irritation, works to make the memory more intense.
In my mind, anytime I think of music, I have George Michael's voice ringing "Last Christmas I gave you my heart.'
Funny, I never minded the song until I heard it repeatedly during Christmas, to the point of bother. Now it may be with me all year!

i don't know....... it's like having a mini obsessive compulsive problem for a short while...... no matter what u do, or how much u hate the tune, u can't get it out of your head..... my best example of this was when i was taking my GCSE history exam.... no matter how much i concentrated, i couldn't get the tune for the latest Pal dog food advert out of my head..... it drove me crazy..... and no, i didn't get a good grade !
