Just mingle and find out more about there culture. Canadians are usually very nice and it is a beautiful place to live. Get out and explore it. Most people never get to do what you are doing. So make the most of it and make great memories.

When you're in class try breaking the ice by asking other students about something you're learning or doing. Outside of class, try joining some clubs and going to various activities. There's almost always people in the student center and cafeteria also. You don't need to drink, smoke, or do drugs to be cool, have fun, and fit in. There's a lot of things you can do in college to have a good time without drinking, smoking, or doing drugs.

There's lots of things you can do!
Start a study group for a class or two.
Join campus organizations like clubs or teams.
Join local off-campus service organizations.
If the student union sponsors dances, jump in!
Attend your school's sporting events, even if you're not a sports fan.
Attend academic competitions, seminars, etc.
If you can take an on-campus job where you deal with students, go for it!
Join an exercise class -- sweat bonds people, especially if they don't smell too bad.
Organize a pizza party for your dorm.
Just jump in and take the lead.
Good luck!

don't try to approach them, you'll just get hurt. if you have no connections, you can't make any new ones from scratch. it's been tried. let them come to you.
figure out who it is you want to be friends with. dress just like they do. study up on their interests. act like them. most importantly, be open to anything. if you meet people that like to smoke, smoke. if you meet people that like to drink, drink. if you meet people that like to study, study. just find some friends, doesn't matter who they are. if at some point you don't like the people you've become friends with, just find new ones, but this probably won't be a problem; just having people close to you is the most important thing, that's why families stick together.

dont be so consious about it. Just talk to them when asked to do group work, start a convo about the class or work or watever you are doing and it normally will progress.
Also, are you living with other students, thats the best way

First you must find a sufficient source of clean water. Then you must build shelter and hunt for food. Follow these guidlines and you should graduate ahead of your class.
