I hope so! It is certainly well overdue that someone other than a white male be seen as capable of running this melting pot we call America. For years, it was said that black people were not as smart as white people on any level! That has been disproven long ago. We are successful in many walks of life, and have proven ourselves under various situations to be strong willed and unbroken! We are now Mayors, CEOs, COOs, Athletes, Senators, News Anchors, Talk Show Hosts, Lawyers, Doctors, Supreme Court Justices, Joint Chiefs, Secretaries of State, etc. So why can't we be Presidents?! If America wants to show the world that we care about equality, then what has she been waiting for?

It would probably make many black people who sterotype white people happy, but I'm ok with anyone who can run the country as a whole and not just for their own personal reasons. They should make decisions that will benefit everyone, not just certain people like George Bush has been doing.
lol, on one note, If I were president, food stamps would be available to buy more than just food. Pay rent, buy homes, cars! lol, just a dream!

Sure, but not during our lifetimes. Even if it does happen, if he's not assassinated, attempts will occur at every opportunity to sabotage his reputation, image, etc. His competency will be undermined deliberately, just to say to the world "Well, we tried and it didn't work. See?" Just like "affirmative action". And, if one is elected while we're still alive, he'll probably be a Black man who doesn't identify as Black nor feel any real affinity with Blacks. lol

That would be a huge step for society. A positive step forward though. I think that youth growing up should believe that they can do anything. And if we have our first African-American president then their dreams may come true. And yes I think that someday we will have our first African American president. However i think that the person will probably be mixed in someway at first, at least.

Someday, it has to happen eventually. Although, he'd have to have a huge pair of balls, because it's a given that someone would get pissed and take a shot at him.
