Don't listen to Quik Boy, he has no idea what he's talking about. He just attempting to defend his purchase of a Zune. I've asked him several times to refute anything in my post here...and he hasn't. Here are the facts about the Zune:

The Zune is a joke, stay away from it.

It's WiFi transfer "feature" is limited to 3 plays or 3 days, whichever comes first and its DRM violates the Creative Commons license. The WiFi "feature" can't be used for anything else, such as wireless syncing.

It can't be used as a hard drive mass storage device, as can be done with every other player out there.

It has a bigger screen than does an iPod, however, it has the same resolution, making it look worse.

You have to buy prepaid "points" in order to buy songs from the Zune store. The Zune store does not yet have video.

It doesn't play Microsoft's own PlaysForSure files, so music purchased from Yahoo Music or any other music store won't work. The Zune Player (which you must use) only plays its own proprietary format and mp3's. Microsoft is using misleading advertising regarding iTunes conversion. They make it sound like the Zune Player will convert existing iTunes to its own format automatically...it won't. You have to burn your iTunes music to a CD, then rip that music back to your hard drive again in either Zune's format, WMA format or in the mp3 format. If you do that, however, the sound quality of your music will degrade because both Zune's format, WMA and mp3's are what's called “lossy compression”. In this case you have an already compressed file being compressed again, resulting in terrible sound quality.

The Zune is really just a Toshiba Gigabeat (Toshiba makes it for Microsoft) with WiFi, but it costs more than a Gigabeat and has limitations that the Gigabeat doesn't have.

It's extremely buggy and people have had nothing but problems installing its software.

It doesn't work with Firefox or Windows Media Player. You must use the much inferior Zune Player.

It only comes in three colors: White, Black and ummmm....errr.....Brown?

Lastly, Microsoft caved in to the music industry demands for a piece of every Zune sold because the music industry views mp3 players as theft devices, thus empowering the RIAA. (Recording Industry Artists Association)

But hey, don't take my word for it...see below:

Just say no to the Zune, either wait for Apple to update the video iPod or take a look at the Archos 604 or Creative's Zen Vision (either “M” or “W”) line instead.

I bought a black Zune, and love it. Here are some great reasons why:
1.bigger screen
2.scratch-resistant, durable
3.feels nice in the palm of your hand, really
4.has a nice UI design (way better than ipod)
5.has wi-fi feature so you can send songs & pics to other Zunes
6.has built-in FM tuner
7.you can change the background pic for the whole menu system
8.Zune software has a subscription feature so you can download a lot for 1 price
9.can sync with the Xbox 360
10.you can view videos and some pics in landscape mode (on it’s side) so you just turn it on it’s left side (makes it great for watching videos)
11.you can get 14 day free-trial for Zune Marketplace
12.is something new and has latest technology

All that and much more. Try it and you might like it. Most people that have bought the Zune seems to like it. It's really a great product, go for it.

Buy the Creative Zen Vision:M 30Gb player. Apple's iPod is a joke because you have to convert all MP3's over to iTunes to play them. I have a Zen Vision:M and it rocks! It's also cheaper than the iPod. The video is crisp and clear and the music is perfect!!

I just got the Archos AV500 for christmas and it's been completely excellent. The only complaint I can possibly find about it is it not fitting quite comfortably into some of my tighter pairs of pants, otherwise, its video and music playback are perfect, to me. Check around for reviews on it from other people who've gotten them and you'll find that it's one of the players with the fewest negative reviews out there. I researched players for months before I finally settled on this one and I couldn't be happier.

Ipod video 30 g

Get the ipod 30gb. it is the most user friendly and best performing.

For BrewMan: I have a catalog of about 10,000 mp3s that play just fine on my ipod (most of which i had BEFORE i got my ipod last year). You don't need to convert your songs to a special format, just add them to your iTunes library...a process that takes seconds, and you can still play your mp3s in their original format without going through iTunes.

Ipods are definitely the best especially the Video. Its 30gb or 40gb almost the same price as a Nano (well in Australia it is)
