I am mainly into classic rock and metal. My favourite bands of all time are 1)GnR 2) Thin Lizzy 3) Aerosmith 4)Van Halen 5) Led Zeppelin. I love metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, W.A.S.P, Queensryche, Rhapsody Of Fire too...
I just see screaming as talentless and sonically horrible. Dave Mustaine from Megadeth agrees with me incidentally.

The only thing that is talented in scream metal is usually the drums and the guitar playing. The screaming is talentless nonsense and it sounds incredibly stupid most of the time. I think Pantera is the perfect mixture for how much you should scream/sing. It just doesn't sound pleasant to the ear, and really ruins any success your band might be able to have by one little aspect that is so easy to change.

Screaming is annoying and weird, but a sont I like is "Let the Bodies hit the floor" I don't know if the title is right or who the artist is, but i kinda like this song. On my school bus last year, there was a huge debate on Rap vs. Screamy music.
Rap: people said it was just talking, and there was no talent
Screamy music: others said people were just being super loud and still talking.
Rap: people said that it was poetry, and ryhming
Screamy music: you try screaming words and still make sense.

I don't like screamo or metal particularly, but a bit of slightly "screamy" (post-)hardcore and I can tell you that it's all in the type of music- a lot of people don't like rapping, but it's in some peoples' taste to like it, and I'd imagine it'd be the same with screaming. I know people who have entire "screamo" CDs... it'd give me a headache, but maybe they like it and the lyrics are really amazing or something.

It really depends on the band. Take Slipknot for example. Corey Taylor didn't sound so good on the self titled cd and Iowa, but on Vol. 3 he really is singing, and it souds good. He sings more in Stone Sour than he does in Slipknot also. But on the other hand, some bands flat out suck i.e. Norma Jean.

I am wondering the same thing. I think (those) banks are lacking in more than just 'singing' I am really into the rolling stones, ozzy acdc and david bowie. It is hard to find talent in those screaming-type bands!

I also like those same bands but just like we enjoy that kind of music so do people who enjoy death metal. I know it is strange but everyone is different, hence not everyone likes the same kind of music. On a lighter note, my favorite band is The Doors. What's yours?

Screaming isn't that great. I do like Opeth though, who use growling balanced with 'clean' singing for effect.

There is nothing good about screamy metal.
I like il Divo.
