It varies where you are located, but most cable providers will deliver local channels, some sports and movie channels in HD.

I have Comcast and they offer the following channels in HD:

ABC, NBC, FOX, CW, CBS, HBO, Showtime, Universal, Music HD, Discovery, ESPN, TNT.

Every provider has different packages.

here in Dallas, both the cable company (time warner), and the satellite systems (Dish & DirecTV) both have HD packages that include the local channels in HD.

it depends where u live. here in Milwaukee we have time warner cable, and direct tv which has certain HD channels which include the local channels, sports channels, and movie channels
