Hey Dude,

Yes, but sometimes, depending on your memory, you can not mix and match them. Your motherboard will run slower. Hopefully your board will be able to sense the difference, or you may have to manually set it lower.

It generally is a good idea to match your motherboard memory and processor. :) That is why most true techs do not consider "upgrading" after the first year of the life of a computer. Upgrade really means purchasing a new computer.

YES, the key is that the motherboard is rated for MAXIMUM supported speed for high quality memory. Notice the words "High Quality"? That is the hard part. Much of the memory you find on the market will NOT reliably run at the rated speed for ALL the various motherboard chipsets on the market. Timning is so tight on this fast memory that you may have to slow the memory clocks down anyway.

Yes, your 667 memory will work on your 800 rated motherboard, but the system board may auto-sense it, or you will have to MANUALLY set it in the BIOS.

Oh yeah, you won't notice the difference between a system board with 667 or 800 memory unless you are attempting to achieve guiness book of world record HI-FPS gaming.... 8-)
