My best friend and I are planning a somewhat long roadtrip (up to a month and a half) for the summer after we graduate highschool. We live in Tennessee. Do you have any ideas on what a good route would be? Or at least where what city we should plan for our final destination?

You did not specify what part of TN you are from...so if I were you's....I would head north on I65 thru KY. In Louisville take 71 North to Cincinnati. So pretty at night! Get on I75 and head to Detroit. Hard Rock Cafe is a must! Stay on I75 North to Sault Ste. Marie. Bring a tent and do some hiking in the U.P. Then travel on US 2 to Duluth/Superior WI. Ashland WI~take a trip by tour boat to the Apostle Islands(breathtakingly beautiful in the summer!) Copper Falls State Park is a great place to camp and hike. Lake Superior has so many stories and harbors to visit. Then get on I35 south to Minnapolis and the Mall of America...2 days to see all of it. I94 to Milwaukee...Summer Fest~big time concerts, food and party town, Home of Harley Davidson...take the tour! Continue on I94 to Chicago. That will be your destination city. Science & Industry Museum, the Sears tower, see an Oprah Winfrey show. That city has so much to see and do. The food is to die for. Take a camera and send post cards. Sounds like a great trip! Be safe.Pack mesquito repellent , a cell phone, along with an umbrella...just in case!
Also call or contact the chamber of commerce of the cities you will be staying at. They can assist you with the peak tourist times and what events are going on.

Well - if I were to do that I would without a shadow of a doubt fly to scotland and buy a second hand lada car for next to nothing. I would drive south through scotland, head west and pass through wales and then east and south through England to Dover.

I'd take the Channel Tunnel to calais and spend a good week meandering through France, eating the wonderful food and drinking the wine, then I'd pass though switzerland and germany, down to Austria and then I'd go for a bit of East Bloc rock.

Heading upwards from Austria heading through Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech republic, being sure to spend some time (and drink some very cheap beer) in the cities of Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava and Prague. I would then head north to Poland and visit Krakow, where I would try to sell my old Lada car, possibly for more than I paid for it (as parts are now scarce in that part of the world) and fly back to Tennessee.

Have fun whatever you decide!
