They have swim bladder disease.

This causes problems with the fish's equilbrium and its ability to swim properly.

You can see if you can't find treatment at Wal-Mart or a local pet store. But if they stay mostly upside down. Then its probably time to make funeral arragements.

If its just one fish it may be just that one is sick? however if all your fish are lying upsidedown at bottom it will be your water I had a simler problem 2 years ago I found the water had turned acid this is easy to rectify you can use a pH adjuster for acid ponds interpet do a good one you see with all the rain we have had this may be the cause I have tested the rain water and it has been very acid if you do need to alter your pH do it over a number of days the ideal is a Ph of 7.5 acceptable 6.5 poor is6 below this is dangerous. All the best and good luck

Take the fish out and put them in a fish tank, then change the water in the pond - it looks like they have been poisoned with something or by somebody - have you upset any of your neighbours recently ?

He may just be in shock and is recovering, dont flush him because I have heard that it causes them a alot of pain in death and it would probably be more pain no matter how you put him out of his misery. So I think that you should leave him and if he is going to die let him die naturally as flushing/freezing/etc will probably cause more harm than good.

Might be worth getting water quality checked. Take a little sample to your local specialist shop and they will check it for you for a small charge.

It's unlikely to be an oxygen problem at this time of year, specially with all the rain of late....

i've had the same fish for 11years..so i have a lot of experience with fish diseases lol "
SWIMBLADDER DISEASE has no cure... it has to do with their bilateral line and it gets messed up. some people suggest euthenasia, but dont, they can live. theres no magical meds to cure it unforunatly. good luck- sounds like hibernation if its cold enough.

sounds like swim bladder -- get peas and take the shells off and chop it up the size of their food. do this weekly in place of a meal and you don't have to worry about it again.
