Some time ago, my relationship with my dad started to get really messy, and it was gradually destroyed. Day after day, until all the anger I bottled up was turned into a feeling I never thought I would be able to have towards a parent. The problem is that we are very similar. We have plenty of faults and only a few qualities. We are a bit immature and fight for every insignificant reason. That's how I unconsciously started to hate him. I don't even remember the reason. All I know was that I was very attached to both of my parents, and hating him meant a lot to me. It felt like I was separating myself from a part of myself.
But things started to get better and right now... we're okay. Or at least I hope I will be able to maintain the situation at this level. ~

When a spouse used words to intentionally inflict severe emotional pain. That was the beginning of the end and a point from which there was no turning back. The worst part is that this person has the education and experience to fully realize the ramifications of such words. Trust, among other things has been a hurdle ever since.

Disdain means like, displeasure or dislike, so yes you used the right word.
The very most? Probably when my sister and I planned a trip to Chicago, a week before we were supposed to leave she said she didn't want to go anymore, and two days after that she went with her boyfriend.
Or when one of my best friends treated me like crap and wouldn't talk to me after I came out as bi.
