Have you done some basic configuration to your linksys, like changing the default SSID and turning on some security? If you left everything at the default, then it's possible you could be connecting to both yours and a neighbor's who also has theirs running with all the defaults. You'll also need to make sure you're not suffering from some kind of interference, such as from 2.4GHz cordless telephones, microwave ovens or bluetooth devices that are very close to your access point, and some baby monitors and wireless stereo speakers can also interfere.

Another suggestion is to find a friend or family member who also has a wireless network and get connected to theirs and see if this problem continues. At least then you'll know if it's something with your PC versus your access point. If it turns out to be the access point, start by resetting to factory defaults and setting it up again, and call Linksys tech support as well.
