Let's face it, overpopulation is a serious problem. We're running out of natural resources, people are getting a lot older than before and there's hardly any space left for more people. At one point in time, we have to... "remove" people. Now, I´m a very ethical person and I don´t promote any form of murder in any way (aside from euthanasia, if that´s spelled correctly, but that's a different discussion). But if you look at this problem at a purely rational basis. What would be the best method to prevent the human race from extinction through malnutrition?

So the question is:

How do we counter overpopulation by ALL means necessary?

Right now, the human population is growing exponentially.

Soon or later, the environment will not be able to support the growing population, because the carrying capacity will be exceeded.

When that happens, the population will take a plunge, removing the weak and thus, survival of the fittest will start to occur.

Another way of reducing population is by cutting off medical services for those above the age of 70 and by starting to educate the newest members of society (children) from the age of 10 itself by just enriching their mind about how much resources we have and how we should use it wisely.

Also, we could implement mandatory one-child policy in all the countries of the world, including the Western, capitalist countries, with punishments for exceeding that limit.

We also have to count this fact in: there might be a World War 3. Militarism is happening rapidly as all the nations are building arms like crazy, especially nuclear weapons. Alliances are being formed too between countries. Everybody is nationalist to protect their rights. Imperialism is also happening in different ways. Doesn't this closely resemble WWI and WWII??

Also take into consideration that the nations of the world are developing and the moment they start competing for resources, two things could happen:
1. War
2. Starvation and death due to insufficient resources and capital

I think sooner or later..the population is going to take a plunge..

We have new virus strains that are capable of creating an epidemic..SARS..bird flu..

As our world reaches a new era of technology, it has become unsafe due to political tensions and new developments in biotechnology that could potentially harm us. Plus our resources are being depleted..sooner or later..the weak, unfortunately, are going to perish.

It's not the population that's the problem, it's the unequal distribution of resources, plus the wasteful habits that we use. God will take care of us, and I know for a fact that there will be no need to kill anyone for lack of space although people are probably going to be killed under that excuse. Abortion is murder. Birth control is early abortion. If you really wanna do something to help the economy, then you might be just the person to help save the trees that people are always cutting down, or to make sure that our water is pure, and if you're concerned about lifespans shrinking, then try to get more exercise and drink more water, you know the ussual healthy habits, and I think you're life will last longer. Try to help stop the pollution, and all the stuff that you know is already a good thing to do. If everybody would just do that then we would have a healthier system.

Actually the birth rate in North America is on the decline (although the population is increasing because of immigration). Furthermore it is arguable if the world is really overpopulated. The real problem is the unequal distribution of wealth and food. The Earth could probably support a much higher population. Yet, it is apparent that children are suffering in third world countries partly because people have far more children then they are able to support. The answer to this problem is to educate and empower the women and girls, and give them access to birth control, so that they will stop allowing themselves to be treated like baby factories.

as a biologist, i never knew overpopulation was a problem. I think you are watching too much local news, the world has more than enough resources and if we did have a problem famine and water shortages would kill off enough people to keep the population at a sustainable level. Now i guess if you are a george bush fan we could enact a lottery to decide who we should kill off.

Also let me point out that many countries in europe, france most noticeably are experiencing decreases in their populations and are struggling to keep their population at a constant level.

look about the problem of overpopulation it differ from country to another
for example the united states of america the number of population 300 millions but its a rich country
china its population is more than the number of indian people population but china is much richer
so we should make a balance between the natural resources and the number of population
about limitin g the increas number of population then the country should make more advertising in tv and talk to people about the dangrous of overpopulation and its bad effect on the resources and the economy
then people should make birth control

Ethics, smethics,What you advocate is an alternative to the
over crowding,Too many bodies,Maybe killing off the old,or the
terminally Ill,maybe the people with mental defects?or a little
ethical abortion here and there? There is a solution!and it is coming very soon now!
It has been prophesied for centurys now.Its Gods kingdom under
The King, Christ Jesus rule.(2Tim.3:1-5)"In the last days........
(Jer.10:23)"I well know O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way
does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even
to direct his step." Although men may decide on different ways to
keep the population down.Their thinking originates with the world,
whereas true Christians are no part of the world, and their way of
life originates with Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ.
(John.5:19)"You[Jesus' followers] are no part of the world, but I
have chosen you out of the world."And as the Bible says;It will
not be late.So you see there is an answer to your question.

I was told (urban myth maybe) that if alllll the people in the world (yes, world) were to stand shoulder to shoulder they would only take up all of Texas. How can that constitute over-population?

Now, the problem: how to depopulate? I think that there will be some catastrophe (like the tsunami) that will reduce the population any time that it gets too lrage. I am a Christian and I think God can, and will, make things work until He is ready to finish it all for the last time. Jesus is coming back.

Family planning and birth control.
Lets face it. People are going to have sex (a lot). Education is key when it comes to unwanted (or wanted) pregnancies. Women AND men need to be told about all available forms of birth control.

They do not care in the event you are available in, however they're gonna ensure that their pens do not get stolen. After all, that's why such a lot persons cross to banks... to thieve the pens. I like taking the entire suckers out of the sweet dish, in my view.
