The show/hide button is on the standard toolbar.
If that's not being displayed, right click just to the right of the word Help, then select Standard.
The Standard bar with the show/hide button should now be displayed.
Else click on View - Toolbars - Standard. Same result.

You have the show/hide button on. Turn it off by clicking on the symbol on the toolbar on Word.

ok...that is just showing your indention. A button at the top(if you dont have it push more buttons) shows a little backwards p thing and press it and it should go away!(if you let your cursor rest over it it says show/hide) dont worry, happens to me all the time. (five stars? sweet!) on mine it is by the zoom percentage and the document map in the upper right, but yours may be different! Good luck!

The longest word in any major English language dictionary is Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon... a 45-letter word supposed to refer to a lung disease, but research has discovered that this word was originally intended as a hoax. It has since been used in a close approxmation of its originally intended context, lending at least some degree of validity to its claim.

It's in your "format" settings. That p is a paragraph mark. To remove it, go to the toolbar, click "format" and then click "reveal formatting." Now, under this section you will uncheck where it says "show all formatting marks." Some people like it on, not your or I...but some do like to see each format change they have made. You probably see arrows where you make tabs, etc.

That's the paragraph symbol, which indicates when a new paragraph has been started. To turn it off, go to View and click "Show Paragraph Marks."

Hey there,
In Word, goto Tools|Options|View
Shut off everything in the Formatting Marks Section. In the Show section, do not show (uncheck) bookmarks, Picture Placeholders, and Field codes.
If this still does not work, email me. There are things you can do in the Edit tab.

Look in your toolbar for the matching symbol and click it, and they will go away. This is how Word marks paragraph and page breaks. If it's not in your toolbar, go to View, toolbars, and open each one until that symbol appears.

I don't know how to get rid of it, but I know it's a symbol of a paragraph. I don't think it should be a problem when you print it out. It probably won't show, but sorry, i can't help. Just thought you might know what it actually is! =)
