After nearly 30 years of doing all the things already listed, I found a product that has been around a number of years. I found it in an old house I bought three years ago. The name of the cleanser is "Bar-keepers Friend" comes in a yellow and gold shaker can (like A-JAX etc). Wash your pan, leave wet sprinkle cleanser on massage slightly to make a paste and leave it a few minutes. Then apply a little light elbow grease if needed. Works great on stove tops, counter tops and leaves a bathtub like NEW. I first experimented on half of an old pizza pan that had lots of cooking "patina". Amazing results.

you can scrub them with an SOS pad, wash in hot soapy water, and dry with cloth. if the stain still persists, you can purchase at hardware store a stainless steel polish, and / or cleaner. follow the directions.
