Fish sleep, yes. They are still, generally, and just suspend in the water when the lighting has been turned off.

If you have ever gone into the room in which your aquarium is kept, in the middle of the night, and peered into it, you would see that the fish are, overall, very still.

They cannot close thier eyes, so their stillness is their rest.

I don't think I really know the answer to your question, but when I get up in the morning, most of my fish are lying at the bottom of the tank. Some will even be propped up against the plants and decorations.

Yes,they do.It is difficult to know when they are actually asleep,as they have no eyelids to close.That is why it is important to let a pet fish have at least 9 hours of darkness.We know when our goldfish is asleep because he is completely still at the bottom of the tank.

yes they sleep but they do not have eyelids so they always have their eyes open but if one day your fish is upside down on the top of the water he is probably sleeping and is never gonna wake up.

Yes and half their brain swims and the other half sleeps.
