I bought Norton Internet Security 2004 a few years ago and installed it on my PC running on Windows XP Professional. I have paid for the annual updates every year, but this year I decided to buy Norton Internet Security 2007 because of the great rebate on it. Do I need to uninstall the 2004 version on my computer before installing the new 2007 version or will my computer automatically override it? Also, even if I do not need to uninstall it, would I save more hard drive space by uninstalling it first? Thank you!

I do not currently use Norton, but I have heard in this forum, that it can cause problems to try to install the new version over one that has been upgraded. So, unless you get a Norton user to tell you otherwise, my advice would be to uninstall the older version first, then restart the computer and install the 2007 version.

Yes, you should uninstall Norton before you install Kaspersky because both with conflict and destroy your system. And the quarantined viruses will be destroyed with Norton. Hope this helps.

DUDE!

Uninstall that POS!

I have been a fan of Norton/Symantec since 1996. I followed blindly until 2004 when I finally had enough of the junk and headaches that followed. I used everything from the single stand alone version all the way up to the Enterprise Edition. Since 1999, not much has changed with their service. They added some bells and whistles, yet it does not keep up with what is happening. And they continue to charge more and more. I haven't figured that out yet.

Avast is a great product at a great price (FREE) for home use.

I would. A "clean" install would be better.
