I'd really like to see it, but I have no idea if Hawaii can even see it.

because it might by "Latin" for you.....the best time to see it is at sunset, because it is near the sun.
Try to avoid to look at the sun because you might damage your vision. better use your palm to cover the sun disk...and look around it.;)

Daytime. Make absolutely positively sure you can't look into the sun (behind a large building) it is about half a fist at arm's distance away. It is to the southeast of the sun, but remember, east and west in the sky are reversed. Don't look at the sun, if you stand correctly the sun's motion should take it further away, so it doesn't "rise" while you're looking.

Try to search for it. It might be hard to see, and it's getting dimmer too.
