Yes, that is normal, I am going through the same thing. I am about 6 weeks (concieved around dec 13th I think) and Don't have an appointment until Jan 23rd. Waiting is the pits I know but it is normal, as for the ultra sound, that depends on the doctor some will do one now, and some will wait till 20 weeks. It may also depend on how many ultrasounds your insurance will cover, because this varies.

Alot of OB's wont see a woman until 10 weeks because they say thats when it decreases the chance of miscarriage. Most OBs will do an ultrasound to "date" the child. First trimester ultrasounds dont show much dont expect much but it will be able to give the exact gestational date of your baby as well as its current weight.

Most Dr's don't see you until 10 weeks. I doubt they will do an U/S.. but guess it depends on the Dr's office. My OB only does them for the 20 week appointment to check developement of the baby. Otherwise- the only time they do them is if they can't find the heartbeat - if something is wrong-

When you are pregnant, your ob will usually see you once a month, until you are about due, then they will see you more often.
Usually, you'll hear the heartbeat at around 3 months & have an ultrasound at around 4-5 months. Some doctors give ultrasounds earlier & give more than just one, it all depends on your pregnancy & your doctor.

I went to OB at 5 weeks. Did not have ultrasound until 11 weeks due to no heartbeat found. But all was well. It depends on your dr I guess.

5 weeks is fairly too early to do a date experiment, maximum dont seem till round 6 weeks or maybe then its the dimensions of a mustard seed, very small, I wouldnt problem too a lot at this factor except the tech gave some indication that there grow to be a project i'd imagine effective and assume each thing is tremendous

I was told to wait until at least 10 weeks. I actually wasn't able to go until about my third or fourth month(didn't have insurance at the time and didn't qualify for fed aid). My doctor typically does on ultrasound at about 22 weeks. So do the rest in his practice, as long as nothing is wrong.
