My ex owes me back child support.I know he has a job and files income taxes anyone know why they don't get taken out if his refund and given to me?

How do you know he gets a refund? He could set up his withholding to OWE every year.
I try to owe on my taxes, I try to NOT get a refund if possible. (I do pay my CS) I don't give the government an interest free loan by paying more of MY money ahead of time in taxes than I have to.
Getting a refund is usually a bad way to handle your finances, as you can save or invest that money, or use it to pay off debt sooner if you take it as you earn it, and not give Uncle Sam the use of that money for free.
Like others said, have his wages garnished for your support and seek back support through the state and/or the family courts.

It's not done automatically, you have to go the child
support svcs and let the people there know about your
situation and they can arrange for it to be taken out
automatically if he does not keep up the payment. That is
any refund owed him child svcs can have it taken out and
given to you if he owes you back child pay, do not wait
yearly if he is not paying you, USE the system as we
are paying for it through our taxes and do not let him
slide through the system, stay on it continuously and
keep proof of when he does pay you and when he does
not so as to substantiate your claims. Good luck.

I have only 1 time got a check out his refund. But I do usually get a lump sum but for some reason I get it around August. I've never understood why they don't take the back owed out of the refund.

Well you need to go to a lawyer and tell him that he is working and not paying child support. Now a days they can dock it off his paycheck and the INcome tax refund, Maybe. But you need ti file on him so he can start paying child support. And if he refuses he could go to jail. SO file on him now

You need tocontact yor local child support ofice.They will take it in a heart beat.However it takes a while to get the ballrolling.Don't give up and give them all the imformation you have on him like ss #, if you know where he works,the work number,the city and state he lives in.Belive me the state will get him.Good Luck

Who handles your child support? If it is hadnled by recovery personel then when he doesn;t pay he goes to jail and or his taxe refund is automatically given to you.

Contact the county or the i.r.s. and let them know. I am not sure how it is done, but i know it can be. I think even court would be an option.
