I often borrow CD's from the local library and copy them onto Itunes, then download them onto my ipod. The problem is, my mom is somehow convinced that our computer can get virus's from the music CD's I get from the library. I told her you can't, she insists we can. I think I'm right. Can your computer get virus's from CD's you borrow from the library?

no thats sounds pretty gay! u can only get viruses from p2p like kazaa or limewire because u are downloading songs from another persons computer. so if that person has a virus it could get transmitted to your computer but on a CD? thats crazy. once the cd is made its made u can't modify it unless its a rewritable but even then i doubt a virus could be put onto them.

No you cannot get viruses from original music CDs.

If you access a burned CD (i.e. from a friend) then it is possible to get a virus if the music files they burned were infected.

If your mom is so worried about it, just install an anti-virus application, which you should already have anyway, and keep the definitions current, which is usually taken care of automatically.

A genuine CD made in a factory doesn't contain any harmful programs. Why would a disk manufacturer want to damage a consumers' goods?

Absolutely not. Audio CD's are designed for only that - audio. Even with mixed-media CD's (Enhanced CD's), iTunes will only use the audio portion of the disc.
