If there is another terrorist attack Bush will declare martial law, nullify the constitution and put a whole lotta people in camps.
He might even find another reason to do it.

Firstly, Bush is right. He's the commander in chief, and constitutionally its his decision, and his alone. No where in the constitution does it say he must listen to congress or "the will of the people". That part is decided in the presidential elections, both of which he won. So now he's free to do as he pleases, and it is not illegal, nor a dictatorship, nor unconstitutional. Also, I am an American citizen and support what he is doing, so I guess he's going by the will of the people, just not most people any more. Too bad

no longer a dictatorship. Democracy isn't democracy via fact its definition isn't extremely utilized with regard to justice and liberty for all. by applying definition democracy is actual to its meaning. yet to conceal your self as wolves in sheep's clothing is borderline totalitarian and dictator like......This democracy is bombarded with demagogues and the only factor we danger is actual Democracy. We the human beings of those usa can heal the international if We the human beings prefer to.

If you ever bother to read the US Constitution, you'll find out that war making powers are reserved for the POTUS. That is because a war cannot be run by a committee, something that our founding fathers knew, and something that doomed the CSA in the Civil War.
Sorry... you lose. Better luck next Civics exam.

Tell you what - take a vacation down to visit Chavez, and post something negative about him in a public forum. Good luck with that.
Besides, it wasn't that long ago that the Democrats, yes the very same Democrats that are currently holding office, were howling with outrage because Bush wouldn't put more boots on the ground. Now, he's putting more boots on the ground, like they wanted, and they're STILL howling with outrage. I guess "bipartisanship" only means Bush becoming Pelosi's lap dog. Typical.

hmm no it doesn't work like that. The president is in charge of the Executive branch of the government. The congress represents the Legislative branch. The Congress passes the law by which the executive must abide, unless the Congress passes a law that forbids the Executive from the 'surge' what the president does is perfectly legal and he would be acting within his authority (authority given to him by our Constitution) in a Democracy.

We are a Republic, the President has the power to command our military, the only check congress has over this power is to cut the funds the president would use for such a move.

Since when in the hell has congress represented the people?
If they did, our borders would be closed, overseas outsourcing would be non existant and pot would be legal.
Congress got us into this war, but they have no idea how to get us out without surrender, that ain't what America is about. Surrender, what a disgusting thought.

The Congress submitted their views which is all the power they have and they DID NOT offer any kind of alternative plan, not even a bad one. Bush said he'd consider an alternative idea but none given none considered. SO WHERE WERE THE PEOPLE WITH THEIR BETTER PLAN? This was their big chance now all we'll hear is whining.

A nation that has true Democracy would not have its citizens living in continuing fear of being attacked from either from outside, or from within. A true democratic nation would have ALL its citizens, not just a sector, living in trust of one another and fighting bad elements that dare approach them. A nation which is like a halfway house in its approach to democracy, lives in perpectual fear of not being able to trust even its neighbors! They make prisoners of themselves!
