People have preconceived notions about a city. What restaurant would most represent the "Dallas" aspect they expect ... like Old West.

Well, I tend to go local rather than the chains. Make sure you call any place and get arrangements for seating or you'll be screwed.

Dunston's steakhouse on Harry Hines is pretty darn good and more affordable than one if the really nice steakhouses.

Antares on the top of Reunion tower downtown has marginal food but a breathtaking view and revolves every hour

I personally think of Mexican food as a Texas specialty and here are several options:

Chuys (on McKinney near Knox/Central): inexpensive, good food, emphasis on drinks and patio

Ciudad (Oak Lawn Ave.) / Trece (Travis St.) - upscale more expensive and a little more "high fashion" but with excellent, excellent food.

Matty's on Lemmon has a private room and is very good Mexican food- and not very expensive.

When we first moved to Dallas about a year ago, we tried different types of restaurants. Not until we visited LA HACIENDA RANCH in Frisco did we feel like we'd eaten at an authentic Texas restaurant. The name makes it sound like it's going to be Mexican style inside, (decor and ambiance) but it's more like old west. The food is delicious, but not any more pricey that anyplace else. The also give you a gold "bite" card and punch it with the number of entrees ordered- so that the next time you go, you get any entree up to 20.00 for free! We have a family of 4 and spent about 40.00 when we went, not including the tip. Make sure you order some guacamole if you go, they make it at your table and that's cool to watch! The phone number for the one in Frisco: 972-335-2232. P.S. the servings are HUGE, "Texas Style". :)

i've got lived right here for roughly 30 years now, i.e. unquestionably grew up right here interior the Dallas area. I actual have lived different places, yet it is homestead. Boogie is right - the bugs are huge (do not you recognize each and every thing in Texas is huge?!), however the everybody is the countless maximum friendly that I actual have met in my travels. The site visitors is undesirable, the pollutants has extra suitable dramatically interior the final ten+ years. paying for, eating, and leisure (the two for the economically-challenged and non-funds inhibited populations) are very sturdy. fortress properly worth seems to me to have slightly extra "class" and lifestyle, yet perchance it is because of the fact that's in line with "previous money" and Dallas is in line with "new money". The museums in fortress properly worth are extra advantageous than in Dallas, notwithstanding Dallas does have astounding collections at the two the Dallas Museum of paintings and The Meadows Museum at SMU. The fortress properly worth zoo is staggering, while the Dallas zoo (in my opinion) isn't so warm. Of the two, in spite of the undeniable fact that, between Dallas and fortress properly worth, i will continuously elect Dallas. house is homestead.
