And treason includes not supporting our country. disrespect for your leader is hard on our country. For our security, we must "deal with" those who pubicly tarnish the presidents name.

According to the Constitution, treason consists only of giving (material) aid and comfort to the enemy during wartime. They specified this so that we would have the right to criticize our leaders. Even if it tarnishes his name or puts a smile on the enemy's face. Too bad. The alternative is a tyranny that cannot be corrected by the people. It is Fascism!

Didn't the Israeli spies seeped into out CIA, got caught, and nothing ado is done by our Government? Wasn't Chalabi spying on US for Iran, and nothing was done by the Bush Adminstration and the Pentagon - with Chalabi even allowed to play Oil Minister in Iraq? The word treason in American Dictionary has become a word, defined as it suits only by the powerful special interests and the special interest lobbyists.

Well, all the conservatives who distort the American Flag by putting it on handkerchiefs, T-shirts, and underpants, object to people who fly the flag upside down in protest.
Discussing our president, who is a politician, involves freedom of speech. Can the police arrest the president for destroying our nation's credibility in the world? No there are rules about removing the president. In another nation, the military takes over the governent without an election.
Perhaps you should be arrested for tarnishing freedom of speech by wanting to prohibit criticism of the Pres.

No that is not the definition of treason, treason is the only crime specifically defined in the constitution. Treason is knowingly aiding enemies of the state. It was defined so that the government just could not arrest anyone it wanted too for treason. By the way I am a Republican.

Just a reminder for the "decider" that wrote this Question.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

yes i do think treason should be punished. however, someone criticizing the president is not committing treason. it's not illegal to have a different opinion.

(eta: i should have pointed out that i do not think arresting people for treason should be up to the police.)

that said, they cross a line when they spread enemy propaganda, sabotage the government's efforts to fight the war, give aid to the enemy, etc.

No, the police are there to enforce the law. And the treason you have described isn't breaking the law, its exercising free speech.

i don't think people should be arrested for treason. it's really no ones business if people want to do these things. and even if they are arrested they just know not to do it anymore. if the police was one of those people they wouldn't want to be arrested. they are just doing things that they believe in.

I think this country has plenty to deal with before worrying about loudmouths. Look at the girl from Dixie Chicks. She didn't need to go to jail, Americans took over. It is our privilege to not like the President or what he does. Get over it.

You don't have the beginings of a clue about what treason is, or what the United States is all about.

People with your attitude have run every dictatorship in history.
