Well I don't know. I am like Beetlejuice though. The Excorcist IS funny. And I can laugh my a*s off at any horror movie anymore lately anyway. I have seen the real life horrors too much in my life. Seen drivers beheaded, seen families murdered (I could have been in that one when I was 5 years old.) I love horror movies. There are too many I like for me to give an answer for this.

The Exorcist is tied with the 1968 (black and white) version of the Night of the Living Dead

The exorcist is good, but I really liked The Ring just because it scared the crap out of my kids (they were in their teens and needed a good scare).

Aha, there is no "greatest" one. But a close one.. is Psycho. That scared the crap outta me. I was afraid to take a shower! :)
The Exorcist wasn't even scary. It was funny as hell, actually. :)

Sam Raimi lost ALL my know while he did Drag Me to Hell. John chippie is sturdy, I even like M. nighttime. Shamylan (sp?). Hitchcock and Craven are MASTERS. they're to video clips what S. King is to literature.
