You're probably talking about the PSU cables. They're the power cables.

They either look like this:

or like this (if you have a SATA drive):

Either way, just find the spot where they go and your hard drive should boot up fine.

Hard drives have two types of cables. One is a power cable (4 wires) and the other is either a small, flat single (usually red or blue) cable SATA) or a very flat, very wide connectore (IDE) that actually moves the data from the HD to the mother board.

Obviously, both cables need to be connected. The other thing that might have messed up is the ordering of the drives. If you know which is the boot drive, try hooking up just that one. If you don't know, try them one at a time. Basically, sometimes which cable or which spot on a cable is important for the boot drive.

The data cable is the flat/wide wire and the power is usually a white plug with 4 multicolored wires coming from it.

You should not be able to plug them in wrong as they are keyed to only be inserted one way.

The power connector has a flat bottom with a beveled top...insert this flat side down

The data cable is flat on one side and has a plastic tab in the middle on the other. Also, the cable itself will have a red marking on one side....insert this cable with the red side oriented next to the power plug.

You should not need to "use a hammer" to put the wires into their proper place....If they do not go in without force, they probably do not belong or are upside down.

Hello, there is only one way to plug those wires in on your hard drive and you can not get it wrong they will only plug in one way and in one place on the hard drive so do not worry it is easy to do.all you have to do is look at the other hard drive that you have on your computer it should have the same wires plug ed into it see where they plug in and you have got it.
