mortal kombat deception ps2?

Question

i was wondering how do i get liu kang? i know where its suppose to be and when im suppose to be there but the chest just doesnt appear! i tried waiting there and waiting somewhere else then coming back ot it but the chest just wont appear! does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve this?
