Actually, most of the time the indentation is not only in the carpet but also in the carpet padding beneath. The best way to remove it is to shampoo your rug. Either borrow one or rent it but it but that should do it. Heck, you can do the entire room. It only takes a 1/2 hour!

Fluff up gently with fork. If this does not do it put steam iron over area and fluff again with fork or other appropriate tool. It may not completely fluff up until you clean your carpets. Try the steam from the iron process more than once and use care as to not melt carpet fiber. You might want to put a cloth over the area as you steam for extra protection.

believe it or not, vacuum. If after running the machine over the spot several times doesn't work, take your hand and rub the spot. The weight has compressed the threads and it should just come back into shape
