sounds like your car is about 94-96
easy thing to do is replace the pipe it takes seconds and are done many many many times by my lads
all you need is a bit of breather pipe it goes from the black sensor on the bulkhead at the drivers side and it has a pipe coming from it and it goes down behind the throttle body onto a pipe
remove it all measure and renew thats it!back to full power again!!

hi there, what u refer to is a m.a.p sensor (manifold absolute pressure). It is attached to the intake manifold and it measures the pressure in the intake and the values are read by the ECU computer. Some cars have an Air mass meter but peugeot have map sensor. Its quite a common fault which causes lack of power and hesitation. I would first try and clean it with a brake cleaner spray. Think cost is about £70 from dealer, or try euro car parts or ebay - u may need part numbers to be sure of getting the right part.
Good Luck!

The mass air flow sensor measures the amount of air going into the engine and the ecm uses this input to control fuel and timing control. When the mass air flow sensor fails, you experience a loss of power at varying levels.

The mass sensor is actually the mass air flow sensor,it calculates the amount of air going into the engine and the computer uses this input to control fuel and timing

You mean a Mass Air Sensor. It measures how much air the engine is taking in, and normally the temperature too. Is does not measure the pressure of the inlet manifold, that's the alternative type (MAP), it's either one or the other, not both.

the mass air flow meter is between the air filter and the inlet manifold, if this unit is faulty you will be down on power as the fuel to air ratio will be all to hell, get a mechanic to look it over for you before you spend money as its not the only thing that can rob you of power
