i think you made the correct decision... spelling and vocabulary are very importand when you are a teacher... and they are paid poorly because there is too much supply and not enough demand...

I have a sister-in-law that has complained for decades about how teachers are underpaid. One day I had enough, and we sat down and compared salaries. I am a skilled trades professional, that made a good wage. Once we compared the hours worked for the pay received. It turns out she was making a lot more per hour than I was. She aslo had her summers off and all the holidays, spring breaks, and got to stay home when it snowed.
Looking at it like that, I think they are well paid. Plus she only had to put in 27 years for retirement.

Because some of them can't spell! I think teacher are not paid a lot because it was primarily a woman's profession in the past and they always got less money even for jobs that required a good education. You also have to remember that we live in a society that value entertainment. Why is it that someone who can sing and dance like Michael Jackson makes 1000 times more money then a doctor or scientist who saves lives?

Teacher arnt paid alot because they dont need to be. There are thousdands of people who want to be teachers now, even though they are not payed well. I woudl be up for paying teachers more if there qualifications were much higher. I have had serveral teachers that you could tell, became teacher becuase they didnt know what else to de and they wanted to go through easy schooling.

They are paid according to a national average. The sad thing is that day care workers who need to become certified to watch today's children are paid a lot less than a groundskeeper, who needs no certification what so ever, and could be an ex-con! You would be paid more if you were to become a Professor, than you would as a regular teacher.
Hope this helps! :)

The jobs that are harder to qualify for usually pay more. To become a teacher you have to have a bachelors degree and pass a state test. What's hard about that?
Now, compare becoming a teacher to becoming a heart surgeon or CEO of a fortune 500 company? Both often require advanced degrees, decades of very hard work, amazing skills, and luck.

teachers dont get paid a lot because every school board in a county gets a budget on what the can spend. every year they get new books and every year the have to pay all the teachers, the administers, the cafeteria ladies, the clean up crew, and food to feed both teachers and students. there is about 30 teachers working in one school and 10 administers now multipy that with elementry and middle school. now divide all that by about $600,000...bascly there are to many teachers

It depends where the teacher works. If they teacher is in a rural school district then they are paid more then a teacher who works in the guhetto. Also if the teacher coaches sports they might make extra money off of that.
