The New Orleans Saints Deuce McAllister practically carried the entire defensive of the Philadelphia Eagles line into the end zone for a five yard touchdown on Saturday...Shaun Alexander has been a great credit to the Seattle Seahawks, Tiki Barber, who is retiring, was a great help to the NY Giants...all great running backs...
Who is your favorite running back for the 2006 regular season and 2007 playoff season?
And, how would you rate your choice against the likes of Larry Czonka, Jim Brown, Gayle Sayers, etc. or any other great running back....?
Tough question with lots of room for choices...

Jerry Rice is the best receiver ever!
Emmit Smith is the best player ever!
both Cowboys.
but Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith & Jim Brown would be the best running backs EVER.
That said, I'll go with Tiki Barber.

Reggie Bush was drafted for a reason. If Deuce was the best he would not have Reggies stealing carries. With that said, i believe LaDainian Tomlinson is the best running back in the NFL today. What can't the guy do? Im sure the world knows his ability and knack to put the ball in the endzone. But what people don't understand is he may be even more of a threat as a reciever. He has shown his ability to catch balls (He has recorded over 100 receptions one year). Tomlinson also can throw the football. I reall think his best attribute is his ability to pick up blitzes and disguise fakes. These qualities is what seperates him from the likes of other hall-of-famers. TO keep this short and sweet...i believe Gale Sayers was the best RB of all time. No the numbers do not show it but if you seen what this guy did in the few years he played, you would be amazed.

I love Deuce and I'm not even a Saints fan. He is a leader and a hard runner when healthy and I wish he was healthier more often but his running style takes a lot of big hits. He has sustained a great career in the Big Easy and like Jamal Lewis age has caught up with them and they are declining but still trying hard. I hope he gets a new contract for less money and stays rather then retire and yes I do believe they retire his number as he has been a devoted Saint for god knows how long.

The best running back of this season is easy. It is the San Diego Chargers LaDanian Tomlinson who has ran for over 1800 yards, scored 31 touchdowns and thrown 2 more touchdowns.
Tomlinson will rate up there with some of the greats eventually. He will be used for comparsion along with Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, and Emmitt Smith as a standard for greatness at that posisition.

LaDanian Tomlinson. He's not only a running back. He's completely versitile. He can run, pass, block, fake plays, flea flicker. He can do it all. Compared to the greats like, Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Tony Dorsett, I'd say they'd walk all over him and make him blush. L.T. is great, it would be awesome to see him play with the all-time greats.

I think taht Clinton Portis is the best although he does get hurt a lot, If he could stay healthy boy o boy he could sure be in the top ten in the entire history of the NFL. He's elusive and powerful and he breaks a lot of tackles and he's fast you can't go wrong with that
