I'm thinking of names and I got Kate, is that a good name for a girl?

I love the name Kate. It's classic and beautiful. I would go with the full name Katherine and use Kate as a nick name. Having a longer full name will give her more options as she grows up.

I love the name Kate! Try it as a middle name, too.

Here are some suggestions:

Kate Marie
Kate Eleanor
Kate Ann
Kate LeAnn
Kate Samantha

Emma Kate
Emelia Kate
Emory Kate
Samantha Kate
Lacey Kate
Natalie Kate

Kate is a wonderful name, but you might want to name the baby Kathleen or Katherine and use Kate as a nickname. I know it is far down the road, but teenagers always like to have some flexibility as they try finding themselves. My friend Debora went through Deborah, Debby, Debbie, Debi. Victoria went through Vicky, Vicki, Vikki and so on. Generally they go back to what their folks preferred which in your case would be Kate, but the child might want to try out Kathy, Katie, Kat, etc.

Kate is pretty, but about 10 million other people thought so too....it's very popular and overused....try finding something more unique....my name is jennifer and everywhere i go there are jennifers....i really wish i had a more creative or original name...one that suits me better. i've thought about going by "jaye" but sometimes its more trouble to change when you've been known as one thing for so long. again, Kate is cute, but put a lot of thought into it. a name can make or break a person.

I like it, but why not the more formal "Kathleen" for her and use Kate as a nickname? Never forget the name you give a child may not be as great for an adult, but Kate is fine for either.

Kate is a nice, simple name. If you want to go for the long versions, there's Katherine, Katrina, or Katelyn.
